Browns adding ex-Panthers WR Jimmy Horn Jr. to practice squad

BEREA ― The Browns are reuniting quarterback Shedeur Sanders with one of his college teammates.

Former University of Colorado wide receivr Jimmy Horn Jr. is signing with the Browns ' practice squad, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal. NFL Insider Jordan Schulrz was the first to report.

Horn was a sixth-round pick in 2025 of the Carolina Panthers after being Sanders' college teammate for two seasons in Boulder. The son of former NFL wide receiver Jimmy Horn, he played 13 games as a rookie, but was released by the Panthers after playing 14 offensive and 12 special teams plays in their season-opening loss to the Chicago Bears .

Horn has 11 career catches on 16 targets for 108 yards, including one target in Week 1. He also ran eight times foir 69 yards.

The Browns' practice squad is already at the max of 17, including an International Pathway Player. Once the move is official, they'll have to waive someone else from the squad to make room for Horn.

Cleveland travels to Tampa this week to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , with Deshaun Watson starting at quarterback. However, the Browns return home the following week for their home opener against Horn's former team, the Panthers.

There's a chance that, depending on Watrson's performance against the Bucs, that Sanders could make his season starting debut in that game. He started the final seven games of the 2025 season.
