However, the 2023 first-round pick isn't the only building block who secured a major payday this offseason. According to recent front-office reports, the Seahawks have committed roughly $483.6 million to keeping their championship core together, with Smith-Njigba's record-breaking deal serving as the crown jewel.

Seattle extends Jaxon Smith-Njigba and locks up championship core

Smith-Njigba was unstoppable in 2025, leading the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards and 119 receptions. Those solid numbers earned him First-Team All-Pro honors and the AP Offensive Player of the Year award.

Seattle didn't waste any time locking him down, giving the 24-year-old a four-year extension with $120 million guaranteed. His $42.15 million average annual salary surpassed Ja'Marr Chase's as the highest-paid wide receiver contract in NFL history, keeping him in Seattle through 2031.

"This year has been great," Smith-Njigba said during Seahawks minicamp . "It's brought me a lot of great things, and things to learn and overcome and trophies and parades and stuff like that."

His record-breaking contract set the tone for a massive offseason spending spree. Seattle's defense led the NFL in fewest points allowed last year, and the Seahawks didn't shy away from spending millions more to keep that entire championship group together.

Cornerback Devon Witherspoon followed suit with a massive four-year, $132 million extension. The deal includes $101 million guaranteed and pays him $33 million per year, surpassing the Cleveland Browns ' Denzel Ward to make him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. The three-time Pro Bowler had a dominant performance in the Super Bowl, including a big sack and a vicious hit on the Patriots' signal-caller Drake Maye that set up a game-sealing defensive touchdown.

"It feels good. Long time coming," Witherspoon said after signing . "We just had to get it done. I'm thankful."

The front office also locked down its defensive line by signing star pass rusher Leonard Williams to a three-year, $90 million deal and extending young edge threat Derick Hall for three years and $42 million.
