With the Indianapolis Colts off to a 2-4 start to the season, a handful of teams reportedly are eyeing star running back Jonathan Taylor.

Per ESPN's Stephen Holder , several teams "would be open to a potential trade" for Taylor, but it is to be determined whether the Colts will look to be sellers at the deadline.

As his name begins to swirl in trade rumors, Taylor said his focus is on Indianapolis' upcoming matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

"I haven't given any thought," he said when asked about his future. "That'd be crazy right now, especially because we've got a great Minnesota Vikings team that we have to go against. I think it would be a discredit and a disservice to my teammates and this whole organization to think about what could, what should, what may be."

The report follows the Colts' firing of general manager Chris Ballard earlier this week. Ballard drafted Taylor out of Wisconsin in 2020 and signed him to two contracts, including a two-year, $44 million extension in August.

Taylor has played up to the extension so far, recording the second-most carries (122) for the sixth-most rushing yards (492) and the second-most touchdowns (7).

But with the Colts struggling so far this season, and potential changes coming after Ballard's firing, it could be in the team's best interest to trade their star player and start building for the future.

The trade deadline is on Nov. 10, which doesn't give Indianapolis a lot of time to turn into a playoff contender. The Colts will face the undefeated Vikings this week before taking on the 4-2 Jacksonville Jaguars next week.

Along with Taylor, Holder noted that DeForest Buckner is another name that could be on the move before the deadline. The star defensive tackle has already picked up four sacks this season.

Buckner, who has been with the team since 2020, was clearly frustrated after the Colts' loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

"I'm sick and tired of the same song and dance every year," Buckner told reporters after the loss.

Perhaps moving on from Ballard will spark some new life in the Colts as they look to turn things around, but if things keep trending in the wrong direction, it could be the end of Taylor and more players' tenures in Indianapolis.
