Ladd McConkey has battled injuries throughout the 2026 season, and his foot injury could keep him out of the lineup in Week 5. Originally entering the league as a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft , the Georgia product took the league by storm and immediately established himself as one of Justin Herbert's most reliable targets. Starting in 14 games while making 16 appearances, the wideout finished his inaugural campaign with 82 receptions for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns on 112 targets. While he wasn't quite as effective in Year 2, he remained a key part of the offense.
Now entering Week 5, Ladd McConkey has been one of the few consistent weapons in the Los Angeles Chargers offense, but he may not be able to help the team earn its first win of the season. While he doesn't have an official designation, the Chargers official account revealed the wide receiver did not practice on Wednesday.
Ladd McConkey Injury Update: Chargers WR Misses Practice
It's hard to overstate just how important Ladd McConkey is for the Chargers to have any shot at pulling an upset against the Denver Broncos. At 0-4, the Chargers playoff hopes are all-but over, and they desperately need to defeat their division rival if they want to keep even the slightest chance of playoff hopes alive.
It's hard to call any game a "must-win" this early in the season, but that's exactly what Week 5 is for the Los Angeles Chargers. At 0-4, the team is already four games behind the Kansas City Chiefs and their Wild Card chances are starting to slip as well. There is no precedent for an 0-5 team to make the playoffs, and Ladd McConkey is pretty much the only shot this team has of moving the football. Seattle has one of the league's best defenses, and the Chargers will need their top receiver to play his best football if they want to come out on top.
