Ravens reportedly acquire QB Jacoby Brissett from Cardinals to make up for Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley injuries
The trade is expected to be completed this weekend, so Brissett will not play tomorrow against the Jaguars.
The Baltimore Ravens are acquiring veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett from the Arizona Cardinals, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport .
Brissett will add experience to a quarterback room that will be without starter Lamar Jackson and backup Tyler Huntley for the foreseeable future.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the trade is expected to be completed this coming weekend. That means the Ravens will not have Brissett for Thursday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Baltimore is set to start undrafted rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano. Austin Reed and Kedon Slovis will back him up, and both signed with the Ravens earlier this week.
Schefter reported that Brissett is expected to start for Baltimore in its following game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10's edition of "Monday Night Football."
Baltimore will acquire Brissett for his experience. The Ravens' current quarterback room has zero career passing touchdowns, while starting running back Derrick Henry has four.
Brissett signed with the Cardinals this summer after holding out for a better contract. He has led Arizona to a 3-5 record this season, and has 1,719 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The veteran quarterback was benched late in the third quarter of last weekend's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Arizona trailed 17-3 before Gardner Minshew led the Cardinals to a comeback overtime win.
On Tuesday, it was announced Minshew would start in Week 9 for Arizona against the Seattle Seahawks.
While Ravens fans can get excited for the experienced QB heading to their team, they will have to wait a week to see him in action. That means Fagnano will lead the offense in the meantime, as Jackson was added to injured reserve with a thumb injury , and Huntley was diagnosed with turf toe, which is expected to end his season.
In relief last week, Fagnano completed 10-of-21 passes for 91 yards and an interception. Fagnano also ran the ball three times for 3 yards.
