New Saints Trade Rumors on Spencer Rattler Interest Ahead of 2026 NFL Season

The New Orleans Saints will keep quarterback Spencer Rattler despite receiving trade interest, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The Saints selected Rattler with a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He's played in 16 games (14 starts) over two seasons, completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 2,903 yards (6.0 yards per attempt), 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Rattler was the Saints' starting quarterback for the first eight games of the 2025 season, but he was benched for Tyler Shough at halftime of the team's 23-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 26.

Shough, a then-rookie selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL draft, finished the season strong and even got chosen as a finalist for the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award. So he entered the 2026 offseason as the Saints' clear QB1.

Rattler remains the Saints' backup QB , though, and remains under contract with the team through 2027 . Through three preseason games this year, Rattler completed 30-of-44 passes (68.2 percent) for 262 yards and an interception.

New Orleans, which ended the season with a promising 5-3 stretch after a 1-8 start, begins 2026 on Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Detroit Lions.
