Titans release DT Jordan Elliott following undisclosed incident at team facility that occurred days before Week 6 win
The decision to part with Elliott was universally agreed upon, according to an ESPN report, which also noted the NFL is aware of the situation.
The Tennessee Titans revealed Tuesday they released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott in the wake of an undisclosed incident at the team facility.
The incident took place last Thursday, three days prior to the Titans notching their first win of the season, according to a statement from the organization.
"Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster," the statement read, via Titans team reporter Jim Wyatt.
"We will have no further comment on the matter."
Specifics of the incident have yet to be reported. But the decision to part with Elliott was universally agreed upon, according to an ESPN report , which also noted the NFL is aware of the situation.
Before practice this past Friday, Titans head coach Robert Saleh told reporters that Elliott wouldn't be available to participate that day because he was "dealing with personal stuff," per ESPN. He reportedly didn't travel with the team to Indianapolis on Saturday.
Elliott was among the inactive players the Titans announced ahead of their 26-20 triumph against the Colts.
Not only was the victory Tennessee's first of the 2026 campaign, but it was also the last straw for Colts ownership, which moved on from longtime general manager Chris Ballard in the fallout of that disheartening setback at home .
As for Elliott, the 28-year-old defensive lineman is in his seventh NFL season.
The Cleveland Browns selected him in the third round out of Missouri during the 2020 draft. He spent four seasons with the Browns, maxing out with 36 total tackles — including five for loss — in 2022. Then he went to San Francisco, where he was a consistent starter for the 49ers. In his two seasons with the Niners, Elliott started 29 of the 31 games he played.
This past offseason, the Titans signed Elliott to a two-year deal reportedly worth up to $8.5 million. He made five appearances with Tennessee, including one start.
Along the way, he recorded 11 total tackles and, per Pro Football Focus, 114 defensive snaps. In his absence over the weekend, Timmy Horne was elevated from the practice squad and played 25 defensive snaps, according to PFF.
