Landon Dickerson Says He 'Played Like S--t,' Updated Eagles OL Depth Chart with Guard Placed on IR

After hobbling through the Philadelphia Eagles' season opener against the Washington Commanders, Landon Dickerson is going on the injured reserve.

Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the left guard has been playing with a variety of injuries and will now miss at least the next four games.

Dickerson admitted Monday that he didn't play well and added that he suffered an injury in practice before the season.

"Honestly, I played like s--t yesterday. I was a complete liability. It was my fault. I should not be out there until I feel healthy," Dickerson said on WIP Radio (h/t John Clark of NBC Sports). "A few weeks ago, someone rolled up on me in practice. We got some imaging on it today. Really the best plan going forward is to put me on IR so I can have a good stretch at the back end of the season. I don't think anybody wants to see that again. That was ugly. That was BS. This is not related to last season."

A specific injury hasn't been reported, but it seems Dickerson was playing through a handful of ailments against the Commanders. That would explain his 25.9 pass-block grade from Pro Football Focus , which ranked 57th of 59 eligible guards. His run blocking was slightly better, but he still received a 47.5 grade from PFF.

Despite his struggles in Week 1, Nick Sirianni praised Dickerson for his effort in Week 1.

"His extreme power," Sirianni told reporters on Monday. "He's a big man who's able to move guys off the spot. If you go back and you look at. ... Okay, so he gives up some pressures. All right. But he also caved in the side on Saquon's long run on that third down and just did a really good job of pushing their defensive tackle and displacing him, which is a big job description for him. He's tough as heck. We've won a ton of games with Landon and there's a lot of good things that he can do."

Dickerson, a three-time Pro Bowler, dealt with a number of injuries during the 2025 campaign. He underwent knee surgery ahead of the season and later suffered back and ankle injuries. Still, he managed to appear in all but two games for the Eagles.

Amid the injury-filled year, there was some speculation that Dickerson would retire at just 27 years old, but he ultimately decided to return.

With Drew Kendall seemingly set to take over for Dickerson while he's on the injured reserve, it will mark the second career start for the 2025 fifth-round pick. Kendall appeared in eight games as a rookie, starting one.

The Eagles handled business against the Commanders in Week 1 and should have a relatively easy matchup against the Tennessee Titans this week. Things get tough after that, though, as they'll face the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars in consecutive weeks.
