Travis Kelce is frustrated with the effort a shorthanded Kansas City Chiefs offense put in against the Seattle Seahawks while conceding the team's first loss of the season last Sunday.

The Chiefs went without a trip to the red zone for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era in the 20-3 Week 6 road defeat.

"It felt like they were playing prevent the entire time. It just let the front four cause havoc in the run game and get out of the pocket... It was a pretty frustrating game from the jump," Kelce told his brother Jason Kelce around the 30:00 mark of Wednesday's New Heights podcast .

Kelce continued, "It's frustrating, because we were rolling as a unit for a while there. And I think we're not far off from getting right back to it... I think we just need to learn from this, feel how it felt to get our tail kicked like that, and never let it happen again."

Kelce pointed toward the turning point of the loss taking place when he was called for an illegal motion penalty on the first drive.

"We were rolling, that first drive, and that just kind of stalled us," Kelce said. "From there, it was just bad techniques, bad fundamentals, just okay effort."

The Chiefs were missing injured wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice from the loss, during which Mahomes completed just 57.6 percent of his passes and threw an interception.

Eight players including Kelce made a catch last Sunday, but the group combined for just 165 receiving yards and no touchdowns.

Kelce said the Chiefs' receiving unit, which will still be missing at least Thornton for Week 7 amid his recovery from the significant ankle injury he suffered earlier this month, will need to focus on working together in order to give Mahomes more opportunities for success going forward.

"If it's the backside of a route, being ready and on time. If it's the called route that we're trying to get open, being on time, and being where you need to be... making the read easy for Pat to get the ball out on time so that the offensive line doesn't have to strain for more than what they typically do," Kelce said.

The Chiefs (5-1) are still heading into Week 7 in the top spot of the AFC West, but that could change based on this weekend's matchup against the Denver Broncos (5-2).

Whether Mahomes, Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs offense are able to rebound from their blowout defeat by Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET in Denver could play a role in which team makes it out of the division this winter.
