Terrion Arnold, Seahawks Agree to Contract, CB Will Be Placed on Commissioner's Exempt List

Free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold officially signed a deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

Arnold will be placed on the commissioner's exempt list, per The Ringer's Tom Pelissero:

The new contract is expected to be a one-year deal, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter , Arnold visited the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans before choosing to join the defending Super Bowl champions.

He became a free agent after he was released by the Detroit Lions in June.

Seattle's interest in Arnold was clear after his departure from Detroit, as the team hosted him for a visit on two separate occasions (via NFL insider Jordan Schultz ).

His workout for the Seahawks was also featured on Hard Knocks .

Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe are set to enter the 2026 season as Seattle's starting cornerbacks, but the team's No. 3 corner position is still up for grabs.

Noah Igbinoghene, Nehemiah Pritchett and third-round rookie Julian Neal are all potential candidates to earn the job. Now, Arnold could also challenge for the No. 3 spot.

He was initially selected by the Lions with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, appearing in 24 games across his first two seasons in Detroit. This included 22 starts.

Arnold racked up 91 tackles, 18 passes defended and one interception across both years. He allowed an 88.6 passer rating when targeted during his 2025 campaign, according to Pro Football Focus .

The Seahawks are looking to remain one of the NFL's top defensive squads this year after giving up a mere 17.2 points per game last season.
