49ers' Christian McCaffrey Named to NFL Top 100, Check Out the Updated 2026 Rankings

The NFL Top 100 countdown is entering the final phase after San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey was revealed as No. 6 on the list going into the 2026 season.

McCaffrey moved up 67 spots from last year's ranking after recording 2,126 yards from scrimmage and 17 total touchdowns in 2025.

The reveal of McCaffrey on Friday leaves Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Bijan Robinson, Myles Garrett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the five players still on the board.

McCaffrey had a fascinating 2025 season for the 49ers. His rushing efficiency was close to the worst of his career. He finished with 1,202 yards on the ground, but his 3.9 yards per carry was his second-worst in a season that he played at least 10 games (3.7 in 2017).

Even with some decline in his game as a runner, McCaffrey remains arguably the best pass-catching back in the NFL. The four-time Pro Bowler caught 102 passes for 924 yards and seven touchdowns.

McCaffrey had more receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns than Jaylen Waddle, DK Metcalf and Ladd McConkey.

The 49ers put a lot on McCaffrey's plate with an NFL-high 413 touches during the regular season. He was instrumental in them finishing with 12-5 record despite a roster that decimated by injuries at other positions.

McCaffrey finished fourth in MVP voting in 2025, marking his second top-four finish in the last three years. Saquon Barkley in 2024 is the only other running back with a top-four MVP finish since the Associated Press expanded the vote to a ranked-choice ballot prior to the 2022 season.
