The Vikings elevated Beckham from the practice squad to the active roster before their road game, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
However, the team determined to keep him out despite an injury to Jordan Addision. Justin Jefferson will at least be healthy for Minnesota:
Minnesota signed Beckham to its practice squad on Wednesday, eight days after the New York Giants released the veteran.
Beckham largely dominated the NFL during his first stint with the Giants (2014-2018). He made three Pro Bowls and two All-Pro Second Teams and posted 1,000+ yards in every season except 2017, which ended early due to a fractured left ankle.
The Giants traded Beckham to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. He had another 1,000-yard season but suffered a torn ACL in 2020, ending his season after seven games. Beckham has dealt with numerous injuries since then and has enjoyed only one close-to-full season (2023, with the Baltimore Ravens) this decade.
Beckham showed the Giants enough to make the 53-man roster coming out of training camp.
It didn't work out in New York. Head coach John Harbaugh's team relies heavily on tight ends and has consistently used only three wideouts—Malik Nabers, Malachi Fields, and Darnell Mooney. Beckham saw only one catchless target in limited action with the Giants over three games.
