Hartal in Thrissur village over ESA inclusion
Dawn-to-dusk hartal in Pariyaram, Thrissur, protests proposed ESA inclusion; RJD says Centre draft covers entire village, state list includes Kumbalan Mudi.
Thrissur: A dawn-to-dusk hartal was observed in Pariyaram village in Thrissur district on Saturday to protest against the proposed inclusion of the village in the ecologically sensitive areas (ESA) category. The hartal, called by the RJD, received support from people across various sections of society. RJD state general secretary Eugene Moreli acknowledged that the hartal’s success was not merely due to the organisational strength of the party but also to the widespread public support it received.Moreli said the Centre’s draft list included the entire village in the ESA category. Although the state govt had sought changes to the proposal, the list submitted by the state govt to the Centre still includes a part of the village known as Kumbalan Mudi in the ESA category. However, the impact could extend to the entire village if the buffer zone is also taken into account, Moreli said. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Kochi | Silver Rate in Kochi | Bank Holidays in Kochi | Public Holidays in KochiStay updated with the latest Kochi news.
