Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the remainder of the 2026 NFL season after doctors diagnosed him with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter .
Nicole Lynn, Hurts' agent, announced Monday that doctors prescribed him with blood thinners to remedy his current clotting issues. His physical activity will be significantly limited while he's on the medication:
Tom Pelissero of The Ringer and Netflix reported Hurts played after being awake for nearly 36 hours, as doctors had told him not to sleep. However, Hurts' agent later clarified the report to note that Hurts was able to sleep at the stadium before the game:
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport , Hurts was in the hospital until 4 a.m.
Rapoport reported the estimated time frame is three months.
Unfortunately for Hurts and the Eagles, injuries have been a big part of the 2026 campaign so far.
After a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, Hurts revealed that he suffered a calf injury the previous week against the Los Angeles Rams. The calf injury clearly limited him, as he threw for 220 yards and a touchdown but managed just two carries for two yards.
Hurts was then ruled out for a Week 6 matchup against the Carolina Panthers after being diagnosed with a superficial blood clot.
In what has been a down year for both him and the Eagles, Hurts recorded 933 passing yards, 107 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns. Philadelphia is sitting at 2-4 on the season after Sunday's 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
With Hurts set to miss time, the Eagles will have to stick with Tanner McKee as the starter absent another addition to the QB room. McKee went 26-of-45 for 215 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers.
