Derrick Henry Makes Bold Quote on Super Bowl Motivation Heading into 3rd Ravens Season

Heading into his 11th NFL season and third with the Baltimore Ravens, Derrick Henry is ready to hoist the Lombardi Trophy for the first time in his career.

Appearing on The Lounge podcast (h/t Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com ), Henry explained his entire focus for the 2026 season is on helping the Ravens win a Super Bowl:

"It would be crazy for me to say I played with Lamar Jackson and we didn't win no championships. I cannot have that. I do not want that to be a thing. We've got to do it. ... I want to win a Super Bowl. That's a big motivation. I just want to be able to feel that feeling. I'm tired of watching. Every year, I'm tired of being at home on the couch watching. I want to be a part of it. That's what's motivating me right now. I'm going to keep going until we get to that point. We have the 2026 season to get that accomplished."

Late Additions Who Could Influence Super Bowl Hopes 💪

Despite playing a position that typically has a short shelf life in the NFL, Henry has bucked that trend by putting together two of the best years of his career in his first two seasons in Baltimore.

Henry has averaged 1,758 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns per season since the start of 2024. His individual success has not helped the Ravens get over the hump to this point.

Baltimore made the playoffs in Henry's first season before losing to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round. Last season saw the Ravens lose four of their last six games to miss the playoffs for just the second time since 2018.

The 2026 campaign marks the start of a new era for the Ravens with Jesse Minter taking over as head coach after John Harbaugh's 18-year tenure. Many of the roster pieces, including Henry and Lamar Jackson, that have made the team so successful remain in place.

Since winning Super Bowl 47 during the 2012 season, the Ravens have only reached the AFC Championship Game once in the last 13 years. They are a combined 0-4 in the playoffs against the Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals since 2020.

Henry and the Ravens will kickoff the 2026 season on Sunday when they take on the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
