Week 6 Waiver Wire Breakout Fantasy Football Pickups from Sunday's Box Scores
Unfortunately, the trend in waiver-wire pickup advice so far this season has been targeting whichever backup running back is moving into the main role following an injury to the starter (see: Ollie Gordon, Miami Dolphins; Tank Bigsby and then Will Shipley, Philadelphia Eagles; Braelon Allen, New York Jets).

While these are savvy moves for fantasy managers to make, it's much more fun to witness a player have a breakout game or string together big performances and submit a claim hoping not to plug a temporary hole but deepen a bench or flex slot for the rest of the season.
The three players we're looking at today have all finally capitalized on the opportunities they've been given (and, in some cases, their teams have finally given them the opportunities they deserve).

Week 5 stats: 10 att, 31 rush yd, 2 rush TD, 1 rec, 6 rec yds, 16.2 pts
Savvy fantasy managers picked up MarShawn Lloyd on waivers after Josh Jacobs landed on the Commissioner's Exempt List. However, many of them have since dropped him; not surprising given that he has failed to reach the 10-point in any game this season.
That all changed in Sunday's statement win over the archrival Chicago Bears. The Packers never trailed at any point, which allowed head coach Matt LaFleur to successfully run his play-action heavy offense. It also meant Green Bay wasn't forced into a pass-heavy game to make up a large deficit.
These conditions made for a fantastic day for Lloyd. Yes, his 16.2 points were padded by two rushing touchdowns, but LaFleur got Lloyd in the run and passing games and considered him a go-to red-zone option.
Week 7 is the first that Jacobs could possibly return, so this is the time to submit a claim for Lloyd in what may be his biggest game of the season in Week 6.
Week 5 stats: 5 rec, 44 yds, 2 rec TD, 19.0 pts
Pat Freiermuth has always been a touchdown-dependent fantasy tight end, and that hasn't necessarily changed. The 19 points he scored in Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts was bolstered by two trips to the end zone.
However, Freiermuth had a sizable contribution in the passing game as well, totaling 44 yards on five receptions. He was targeted seven times, the most all season.
Freiermuth is still part of an offense where he splits snaps with tight end Darnell Washington. But having scored four touchdowns across five games so far this season, if you have an underperforming tight end on your roster, Freiermuth is looking more and more like a starting-caliber option in deep leagues.
Week 5 stats: 5 rec, 41 yds, 1 rec TD, 12.7 pts
Houston Texans young wideout Jaylin Noel may still be considered a deep-league flex option heading into Week 6, but with two big games in a row, this could be the week your opponents are looking to submit a waiver-wire claim for him.
Noel followed up his 11.9-point outing in Week 4 with another double-digit points day. He brought in all five of his targets against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the most he's seen this season. Sunday also marked the third consecutive game that Noel had above a 55% route share.
Noel appears to be limited only by how much offensive coordinator Nick Caley and head coach DeMeco Ryans want to get him involved in the offense. The Texans don't have many weapons to speak of behind Nico Collins, and Noel has made the most of the opportunities he's gotten this season. If Week 6 sees him continue to progress, you'll want him on your roster, not your opponent's.
