New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough hasn't missed any time, but he is reportedly playing through multiple broken bones in his left hand.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday there are two broken bones in Shough's non-throwing hand that one source said would take "a couple of months" to fully heal even while he continues to play. He first suffered the setback during New Orleans' 45-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Oct 5.

While Shough has fully participated in practice and, according to Schefter, remains "determined to play through any injury," he has been handing off with his opposite hand and playing with his ring and pinky fingers taped together.

What's more, he has worn a protective glove on the bandaged hand and is expected to do so again for Sunday's contest against the New York Giants.

Shough has solid numbers overall and has completed 66.8 percent of his passes for 1,299 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. However, his production has not been the same since suffering the injury against the Falcons.

He threw for 255 yards, four touchdowns and one interception the previous week against the Las Vegas Raiders but had just one touchdown against the Falcons. Then he turned in the worst game of his season while throwing for just 96 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

New Orleans is now 1-4 on the season and needs to turn things around quickly if it is going to be a realistic factor in the NFC playoff race.

The plan seems to be to continue with Shough, but his performance will undoubtedly be under a microscope with the injury and following his poor showing against the Vikings. Spencer Rattler is his backup, although he is just 1-13 as a starter since entering the league in the 2024 NFL draft.

The Saints' Week 8 bye is just two weeks away, so there will at least be some time in the near future for Shough to further recover.
