Despite Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix's poor play during Thursday night's 17-14 win over the Seattle Seahawks, and former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick's scathing evaluation of his performance, Nix is reportedly still looked at highly within the Broncos organization.

According to Tom Pelissero of The Ringer, "Nobody in the Broncos' building is more competitive than Bo Nix. He's a hard worker. Teammates love him."

Pelissero relayed that information after Fitzpatrick, who is an analyst for the NFL on Prime Video, blasted Nix on Thursday night:

Among other things, Fitzpatrick said, "Bo Nix is not playing competitively. It's almost disrespectful to the quarterback position how he's playing quarterback right now."

The 26-year-old Nix exceeded expectations over his first two NFL seasons, taking the Broncos to the playoffs twice, including the AFC Championship Game last season, and throwing for a total of 7,706 yards, 54 touchdowns and 23 interceptions, while also rushing for 786 yards and nine scores.

Although the Broncos have persevered against a tough schedule so far this season to get off to a 4-2 start, there is no doubt that Nix has regressed compared to his first two campaigns.

In addition to completing a career-low 60.3 percent of his passes, Nix has thrown for just 1,049 yards, six touchdowns and three picks through six games.

Per Doug Clawson of CBS Sports, Nix is currently having the most conservative start to a season by a quarterback over the past two decades in terms of air yards per attempt:

That conservatism was on full display Thursday, as Nix went 17-of-27 for 107 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

As seen in the NFL Next Gen Stats passing chart from Thursday's game, Nix did not complete a pass of 10 yards or more down the field, and seven of his completions occurred behind the line of scrimmage:

He was aided by an interception thrown by Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold in overtime, which essentially put the Broncos in field goal range and allowed them to win the game.

Nix has never been one to consistently attack defenses down the field, averaging 6.7 yards per attempt as a rookie and 6.4 yards per attempt last season.

However, he is sitting at just 5.6 yards per attempt so far this season, which is surprising given that the Broncos upgraded their receiving corps during the offseason by acquiring Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins.

It should be noted that Nix has dealt with some turmoil in the coaching ranks, as offensive coordinator Davis Webb began the season as the offensive play-caller before getting supplanted by head coach Sean Payton.

Payton called the plays over Nix's first two seasons, and although that familiarity didn't seem to help much on Thursday, perhaps that will change as time goes on.
