New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is reportedly getting closer to making his NFL debut.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , Tyson could return from his hamstring injury as early as the team's Week 9 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Even if he ultimately can't suit up against Cleveland, he's "not far away from playing."
The No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft has spent the Saints' first seven games of the year on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury that he suffered during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 13.
It was a tough blow to New Orleans' receiving corps, as Tyson was reportedly turning heads in training camp.
The 22-year-old previously dealt with health issues throughout his college career, missing time due to a knee injury in 2022 before a collarbone injury impacted his 2024 campaign.
In 2025, Tyson was limited to nine games with a hamstring injury that also prevented him from participating in the scouting combine.
Still, his productivity when available resulted in the Saints selecting him with their first choice in the draft.
Tyson wrapped up a 2025 season at Arizona State in which he hauled in 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns. He also racked up 1,101 yards and 10 scores during the prior year, averaging 14.7 yards per reception.
The Saints have opened their 2026 campaign with a 2-5 record, which includes losses in four of their past five games. Chris Olave has continued to serve as New Orleans' No. 1 receiver, catching 49 passes for 636 yards and two touchdowns.
The Saints currently have a Week 8 bye, giving Tyson additional time to recover before potentially returning to the field against the Browns on Nov. 8.
