Devon Witherspoon is the first Seahawks player fined in 2026 season. Here’s why.

We have our first Seattle Seahawks fine of the 2026 NFL regular season, and thankfully it was a post-whistle infraction that wasn't consequential to the game's outcome.

You might have noticed Devon Witherspoon finger-wagging and jawing at Mack Hollins on Josh Jobe's game-winning interception against the New England Patriots . It did not draw a penalty at the time and the only thing it would've impacted was Drew Lock kneeling the ball at his own 10 and not the 20.

The league took notice after the fact, and it'll cost 'Spoon $11,941 . Again, the pick would've been upheld even if a flag was thrown, although I'm sure even 'Spoon will get a talking to as far as not potentially getting himself a cheap flag in future games.

There were no fines issued to any other Seahawks players, while the Patriots had a clean slate.

Seattle did, by the way, draw a couple of preseason fines, both in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans . Cornerback Andre Fuller (currently on the practice squad) was docked $5,112 for a face-mask penalty, likewise for former linebacker Aaron Smith but at a cost of $4,917.
