Fantasy football managers, much like their NFL counterparts, can never afford to dwell on the past.

The aim is always to strike a balance between living in the moment and preparing for the future.

We're here for the latter, as we're shifting focus forward to Week 7 even though Week 6 has one more matchup left on the docket. With waiver wires to run, and lineup decisions to start deciphering, let's dig into some early Week 7 rankings and identify a waiver-wire target at each of the three marquee positions.

Waiver-wire target: Kirk Cousins, LV (vs. LAR)

If your league is shallow-ish or perhaps just slow to work the waivers, there's absolutely a chance Cousins is available. And if he is, it's probably a great idea to make sure he isn't once waivers run this week. While his touchdown tally has slowed a bit, he has cleared 300 passing yards in two of his last three contests, including Sunday when he threw for 313 yards and a couple of scores.

Projected stats: 22-of-35 passing for 264 yards, two touchdowns and one interception

Waiver-wire target: Jordan Mason, MIN (vs. IND)

It hasn't been a banner week for waiver-wire running backs, so maybe it's the right time to focus on someone who didn't play on Sunday—and hasn't in more than a month. Mason, who landed on injured reserve after fracturing his thumb in Minnesota's opener, appears ready to return and could immediately step into a sizable support role given the Vikings need to reduce their reliance on 31-year-old starter Aaron Jones Sr.

Projected stats: 13 carries for 52 yards, one reception for eight yards, one touchdown

Waiver-wire target: Germie Bernard, PIT (at NO)

Fantasy managers apparently needed more convincing after Bernard's Week 5 breakout (six receptions on nine targets for 80 yards). They should all be convinced now after his monstrous Week 6 effort, which saw him snag 11-of-12 targets for 87 yards, including the game-winning touchdown catch in overtime.

Projected stats: Seven receptions for 83 yards, one touchdown
