Odell Beckham Jr.'s Snap Count Spotlighted After Giants' Loss to Rams Amid Malik Nabers Injury

Even though Malik Nabers was able to return in Monday's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a shoulder injury in the first quarter, at least one New York Giants analyst put the spotlight on Odell Beckham Jr.'s lack of reps in the game.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News noted Beckham only played three snaps in the game, despite having "strong" chemistry with backup quarterback Jameis Winston in training camp and preseason.

Nabers told reporters after the game he "just popped" his shoulder back into place. He was back on the field for New York's next possession.

Winston entered on the Giants' second offensive possession after Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury on a third-down incompletion that ended the opening drive.

The offense had nothing going against the Rams with Winston at quarterback. They had 182 yards of offense, 11 first downs and went a combined 4-of-16 on third- and fourth-down.

As for Beckham's role, he was always unlikely to get significant playing time barring injuries after being a potential cut candidate before the Giants opted to keep him on the 53-man roster coming out of camp.

Nabers' injury initially seemed like it might be significant, but he was back on the field almost immediately. Darnell Mooney and Malachi Fields are ahead of Beckham on the depth chart. Tight end Isaiah Likely leads the team in targets (18), receptions (13) and receiving yards (111).

Beckham, who is 33 and didn't play during the 2025 season, has not been targeted in 14 offensive snaps played through the first two games for the Giants.

There may come a point when Beckham gets a bigger role for head coach John Harbaugh, but the offense has more important things to figure out right now with Dart expected to miss some time with what is believed to be a sprained MCL.
