The Eagles and Hurts' agent Nicole Lynn released a joint-statement on Monday saying he will be placed on blood thinners and is unable to play football until his recovery.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Hurts is out for the rest of the year, adding that the former Super Bowl MVP was in hospital until 4am and did not sleep prior to Philadelphia's defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

"Over the past few days, Jalen Hurts has received comprehensive medical evaluations by physician experts. In the interest of transparency, we are providing additional information on the diagnosis and treatment plan related to his condition," the joint-statement read.

"Jalen was initially diagnosed by specialists in London with a left calf superficial vein thrombosis. After further testing and monitoring, the current diagnosis is deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli. He is clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations. His treatment should only involve anticoagulation [ie. 'blood thinners']. During this time, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities, including football."

The statement adds that a "full recovery" is expected for Hurts and no long-term effects are anticipated.

Hurts started the Eagles' game in London despite not sleeping, throwing for 220 yards and a touchdown before Cam Little's last-second field goal lifted Jacksonville to a 19-17 victory.

Rapoport added that the initial blood clot issue was revealed on the Saturday afternoon to be several blood clots on Hurts' lungs.

Hurts won Super Bowl LIX MVP in February 2025 after throwing for 293 yards and scoring three touchdowns as the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans.
