The Dallas Cowboys are still open to buying at the trade deadline following a 3-4 start to the 2026 campaign, executive Stephen Jones indicated in a Friday appearance on 105.3 The Fan.
Jones said the Cowboys would consider more defensive additions after acquiring cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this season.
"Certainly, I wouldn't say we're anywhere close to where we want to be in terms of pressure on the opposing team's quarterbacks. You can do that a lot of different ways... [like] player acquisition, which we're always taking a look at, which I think we've shown, just as we brought Porter in here," Jones said. "We're certainly not opposed to that, either, and we'd certainly look at it if it made sense."

When asked if he was put off by prices in a trade market that recently saw the Chicago Bears give up two first-round picks for Jeffery Simmons, Jones pointed toward the Cowboys' willingness to give up a first- and second-rounder in order to acquire Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets last fall.
"We feel like our hands around what value is in the market, and if the right situation's there, and we feel good about it, feel good about what the player can do for us, then we're certainly, as we've shown, not afraid to move on those instincts," Jones said.
The Cowboys currently hold just four picks in the 2027 draft, which would to mark the lowest single-draft total in franchise history, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The team is also competing in an injury-weakened division in which the Cowboys sit alone in second behind the New York Giants (4-2-1) but ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles (2-5) and Washington Commanders (1-4-1).
The Cowboys will have faced two potential deadline sellers in the visiting Arizona Cardinals and host Indianapolis Colts by the trade deadline. The Eagles play the Commanders and Giants over the same stretch.
The results of those contests could impact how big of a swing Dallas is ultimately willing to take by the time the trade window closes Nov. 10.
