Steelers' DK Metcalf Explains Belief in Conspiracy Theory That Antarctica is 'Another World'

Pittsburgh Steelers veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has always been known for his outlandish beliefs, but it now appears that he's not the biggest conspiracy theorist on his team.

Steelers star receiver DK Metcalf told The Athletic's Jonathan Jones that the title belongs to him.

"Yeah, I'm a big conspiracy theorist," Metcalf told Jones. "Shout out to my quarterback."

Metcalf then revealed that one of his most curious theories is his belief that Antarctica is "another world."

"I think there is another civilization inside of Earth," he said.

The 28-year-old said the source of the conspiracy lies in access to the Arctic continent.

"You can go to Alaska. You could go to the North Pole," Metcalf said. "But why not Antarctica? Why can't you just book a trip to Antarctica?"

Of course, you can book a trip to Antarctica. Tourism usually takes place between November and March and typically requires ships leaving from South America to travel to the Antarctic Peninsula. There are no commercial airports on the continent, and those that do exist are controlled by the government, which further feeds into Metcalf's theories.

"Why is there a secret meeting — well, it's not secret," Metcalf says, "but why is there a meeting between every world leader of every country in Antarctica, specifically?"

There are no records of such meetings taking place. But if there were, they wouldn't be much of a secret, right?

Metcalf and the Steelers will open the 2026 season on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, so he will have to put his conspiracy theories to rest over the next few months.
