Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a dislocated ankle and will have full evaluation on Monday after exiting with a gruesome injury against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Tyreek makes another cryptic post amid Chiefs rumors

Thornton caught a pass from Patrick Mahomes and was running down the field before a defender rolled up on his ankle. He had to be carted off the field after the play.

The injury came during the best game of Thornton's career. Before exiting, he had a career-high 111 yards and two touchdowns on five receptions. The Chiefs went on to beat the Raiders 30-27 to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Thornton is up to 219 yards and two touchdowns through four games, which puts him on pace for a career season. Of course, he could be looking at a major setback following the injury.

"First off, I'm just praying for him," Patrick Mahomes said of Thornton. "You never want anyone to get injured and you're hoping its better than it looked out there... Hopefully he comes back healthy."

Further testing will give the Chiefs a better idea of how long Thornton will be out, but anyone who saw the damage can assume he's set to miss a bit of time.

Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Thornton wasn't the only receiver who was injured in Sunday's win. Rashee Rice exited in the first quarter with a hamstring injury and was unable to return. The extent of his injury is not yet known.

Rice and Thornton have been among Mahomes' top targets early on this year, so being without one or both of them for an extended period would be a major blow to one of the NFL's top teams through four weeks.

Kansas City will need veteran tight end Travis Kelce to continue his strong start to the season, but he had a bit of a rough game against Las Vegas on Sunday.

Additionally, the Chiefs might have to look for some receiver help externally, depending on the extent of Rice and Thornton's injuries.
