49ers' George Kittle Responds to Injury Rumors with Funny, NSFW Brad Pitt Video

When you're an All-Pro tight end, sometimes social media can be amusing.

San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle took to social media Sunday and relayed a NSFW response to an injury update featuring Brad Pitt that he found quite funny:

The video was in response to a Sunday report from ESPN's Adam Schefter that revealed Kittle has not suffered any setbacks as he recovers from the torn Achilles he suffered last season and is expected to practice during the upcoming week.

Schefter noted the tight end "has a legitimate chance to play" in San Francisco's Sept. 10 season opener against the Los Angeles Rams.

It seemed like everything was on track for Kittle when the 49ers activated him from the active/physically unable to perform list last Sunday.

However, there was some concern he may have suffered a setback when head coach Kyle Shanahan made a vague reference during a press conference that the seven-time Pro Bowler had "taken a step back" without offering much clarity.

Schefter's latest report and Kittle's response seemed to clear that up, which is notable since it came after a previous report suggesting the Iowa product was ahead of schedule:

Kittle suffered the torn Achilles on Jan. 11 during his team's playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Returning to the field in approximately eight months is quite an impressive turnaround, but the latest indications are he will do just that.

It is welcome news for the 49ers, who would be far more dangerous on offense with their star tight end on the field against their division rivals. And given how competitive the NFC West figures to be with the 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Rams all fighting for playoff spots, that opener is all the more important given the opponent.

Kittle finished last season with 57 catches for 628 yards and seven touchdowns and isn't far removed from his dominant 2024 campaign when he tallied 78 catches for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns.

It was his fourth season of his career with more than 1,000 receiving yards, and he will look to return to that form in 2026 as he bounces back from his setback.
