Caleb Williams Injured, Latest on Bears Star's Timeline to Return After Being Carted Off vs. Vikings

The Chicago Bears' season may have just taken a very concerning turn.

Franchise quarterback Caleb Williams appeared to suffer a serious leg injury during Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings while scrambling from the pocket. He was later rul ed out with a hamstring injury.

Head coach Ben Johnson provided an update after the game:

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reported that the Bears are hopeful it will be diagnosed as a Grade 1 injury. However, the team will not know the severity until Williams undergoes an MRI on Monday.

Williams is heading into his third season with the Bears after leading his team to an NFC North title and the divisional round of the playoffs in 2025.

He completed 58.1 percent of his passes last season for 3,942 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Williams also added 77 carries for 388 rushing yards and three touchdowns while leading the Bears to an 11-6 record.

Although he took significantly fewer sacks during his sophomore campaign, going from a historic 68 sacks as rookie to 24 sacks last season, Williams also saw his completion percentage drop.

Bears coach Ben Johnson made improving Williams' accuracy a focus during training camp this offseason.

Taking that step forward this fall will require a healthy Williams. If he is sidelined for any length of time, however, the Bears will turn to Case Keenum in the short term.
