Jauan Jennings Snubs 49ers Trade, New NFL Rumors Reveal on Vikings WR Ahead of 2026 Deadline
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings declined to reunite with the San Francisco 49ers on the trade market, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings declined to reunite with the San Francisco 49ers on the trade market, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
"The 49ers, who already traded for DeForest Buckner, also had trade terms worked out for Jauan Jennings, their former receiver with the Vikings," Glazer reported Sunday (0:48 mark). "But it was contingent upon him hopping on a FaceTime with Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch and saying, 'Okay, yeah. I want to come back.' But he didn't. He said, 'Actually, no. I want to stay here in Minnesota.'"
Jennings is in the midst of his inaugural season on the Vikings after spending the first five years of his career in San Francisco.
Minnesota owns the best record in the NFL at 6-0 this season, although the 49ers aren't far behind at 6-1.
The Vikings' strong start has been primarily fueled by their defense, as they own the league's fourth-worst passing attack by averaging a mere 162.3 yards per game through the air.
Jennings has caught four of his eight targets for 43 yards across five appearances this year.
Meanwhile, San Francisco boasts the NFL's No. 10 passing offense .
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has put together an impressive 2026 campaign, completing 69.2 percent of his throws for 1,748 yards and 15 touchdowns compared to four interceptions.
Jennings is familiar with catching passes from Purdy, as he hauled in a career-high 77 receptions for 975 yards during the 2024 season.
The receiver went through a contract dispute with the 49ers near the end of the ensuing offseason, though.
Jennings eventually stayed on the team and amassed 643 yards the following year, but San Francisco let him depart in free agency.
The 29-year-old may have had an opportunity for a larger role by coming back to the 49ers this season, but he doesn't seem to be interested in playing for his former team.
