Jameis Winston ready to embrace ‘beautiful’ opportunity to fill in for Jaxson Dart as Giants QB

Jameis Winston isn't happy to see Jaxson Dart go out for the rest of the season, but is relishing the opportunity to play as the New York Giants ' starting quarterback.

Dart has suffered multiple knee injuries that require knee surgery, thus ruling him out for the rest of the season.

This means that the Giants will have to rely on Jameis Winston as their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the New York Giants' game against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend, Jameis Winston reflected on becoming the new starting quarterback.

Despite his sadness and empathy for Jaxson Dart, Winston admitted that this was the opportunity and moment that he was dreaming of.

"This is what I have always dreamed of: to be a starting quarterback. Obviously, my respect and gratitude is going to be with Jaxson.

"But at the same time, this is what I dreamed of. I dream of being where I am right now and executing at a high level.

"The opportunity is beautiful. It's amazing. I'm grateful for it. But at the same time, I've got a brother that I've got to keep lifted up, and I have to prepare for a football game."

While Winston would have hoped that this opportunity came under more positive circumstances, he certainly cannot afford to squander this chance.

After the way his career has panned out following his exit from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , this could be the season he plays the most games since 2019.

After leaving the Buccaneers, Winston has only played double-digit regular-season games once, during the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns .

For the most part, Winston's injuries and overall lack of consistent performances have relegated him to being the second-string quarterback across the 2020s.

With the Giants, Winston has a chance to remind teams in the NFL that he can be a reliable quarterback when given the chance.

But for that to happen, he needs to be able to deliver for them at the highest level possible, and ensuring that they win games during this run.
