That's one way to close the halftime. The Philadelphia 76ers played the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night as VJ Edgecombe gave the Sixers a highlight to remember.
The young shooting guard drained a remarkable shot from beyond the half-court logo just before halftime against the Indiana Pacers. Edgecombe's deep three-pointer sent Philadelphia into the break with a 62-52 lead.
Edgecombe showed little hesitation as he launched the ball from well beyond the arc. The play provided a major highlight in a first half in which the 76ers built a 10-point advantage. Indiana struggled to find its rhythm, shooting just 39% from the field before the break.
However, the Pacers responded immediately after halftime. Indiana opened the third quarter with 17 unanswered points to take a 69-62 lead, turning a double-digit deficit into a seven-point advantage.
Philadelphia struggled to keep pace during the period, making just five of 21 shots from the field. Indiana, meanwhile, connected on 13 of its 23 attempts and carried an 88-75 lead into the fourth quarter.
The 76ers eventually rallied behind Tyrese Maxey, who finished with 27 points. His layup tied the game at 94, and two free throws put Philadelphia back in front with 5:15 remaining. Maxey later buried two three-pointers in the final 90 seconds to help secure a 114-109 victory.
Edgecombe, the third overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Baylor, continues to establish himself as a perimeter threat for Philadelphia. His buzzer-beater came just in time as one of the game's defining moments, even as the 76ers needed a fourth-quarter comeback to finish the job.
