Jets' Chip Trayanum Transported to Hospital with Neck Injury After Hit vs. Giants

The New York Jets announced that running back Chip Trayanum suffered a neck injury during their preseason game against the New York Giants on Friday evening. Trayanum was transported to a local hospital, but thankfully, the Jets reported that he is "awake, alert and has movement of his extremities."

The injury occurred on the final play of the first half after Trayanum took a handoff and got tackled by Giants linebacker Trace Ford. Medical personnel attended to Trayanum, who stayed on the field.

Trayanum joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent in May. He played his final collegiate season at Toledo, amassing 1,227 total yards and 14 touchdowns and earning First-team All-MAC honors.

He faced an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster behind Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis at running back, but Trayanum showed enough to deserve practice squad consideration, per a few Jets analysts.

On Friday, Trayanum ran for 38 yards and his first-ever preseason touchdown, which gave the Jets an early 6-0 lead.

Trayanum was awfully busy on that drive.

He also added two receptions for 25 yards.
