NASCAR Playoffs Bracket 2026 Point Standings After WWTR Round of 16 Results

Kyle Larson broke a winning drought of 51 races at World Wide Technology Raceway on Sunday.

Larson beat out Alex Bowman and Joey Logano in the second round of overtime to end his drought and pick up 73 points in the Chase.

The win boosted Larson all the way up to second place in the playoff standings behind regular-season points champion Denny Hamlin.

Larson came out on top after a stop-and-start final 50 laps.

The No. 5 car driver emerged victorious on the second attempt at overtime. The first overtime attempt was called off after a crash involving Shane van Gisbergen.

Larson outlasted his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman and Joey Logano on the three overtime laps to end his long drought.

The last time Larson crossed the finish line first came at Kansas in spring of 2025.

The win allowed the No. 5 team to create some momentum going into the final eight races of the Chase.

Larson is firmly in the conversation to win the NASCAR Cup Series postseason now that he is nine points back of Hamlin.

A handful of other drivers in the Chase were not as fortunate as Larson. Chase Elliott, Chase Briscoe and others were involved in the handful of wrecks at the end of the race.

Elliott collected Briscoe in one of the final wrecks of the afternoon after a brake failure.

Daniel Suarez, Ty Gibbs and Carson Hocevar were also involved in accidents.

Next up for the Chase is a Saturday night trip to Bristol Motor Speedway. Gibbs was the spring winner at the Tennessee track.
