Scott filly can make winning Stakes debut

I've made no secret of my admiration for FORTY YEARS ON who can make an instant impact in Pattern company when she contests the feature race at Doncaster on Sunday, the Japan Racing Association Sceptre Fillies Stakes (3.05).

George Scott, who won Friday's Doncaster Cup with Caballo De Mar, has found a great opportunity for this most progressive daughter of Mayson who was much too good for her rivals in a valuable handicap at Goodwood last month.

She enjoys ease underfoot and can win for the sixth time in eight starts at the possible expense of Shadwell's Touleen , who brings solid Group One form to the race after her luckless run in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She did look a bit awkward in the Valiant Stakes last time so the cheekpieces may just sharpen her focus, while Planet Seeker looks over-priced on the strength of her York form and her creditable fourth in the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at The Goodwood Festival.

Longer trip ideal for Bailey gelding in Mallard

It's hard to fault SAY WHAT YOU SEE in the Betfred Mallard Handicap (3.40) on Sunday following a string of rock-solid races for his trainer Liam Bailey this year.

He built on a near miss at Southwell with an eye-catching run at York's Ebor Festival, staying on from a long way back to finish a closing third over 12 furlongs and should appreciate this longer trip.

There's probably a nice race in Godolphin's Valedictory who was a little one-paced over two miles at York last time, having looked the real deal earlier in the season with back-to-back wins at Goodwood and Newmarket. He has something to prove off his current mark, however.

I like George Boughey's lightly raced ASUKA in the Betfred 'The Classic Bookmaker' Handicap (1.55) on Sunday's Doncaster card.

Dropping back to six furlongs on such a big galloping track shouldn't be an issue for the Night Of Thunder gelding who confirmed himself in top form over further at Chester last time when a poor draw and an interrupted run put paid to his chances.

George has a strong hand in the race with stable mate Oliver Show also bringing some strong form to the table. His run behind subsequent winner Inspired at Goodwood last time reads well and the first-time visor is an interesting angle.

Easier surface a positive for course winner

I'm looking forward to seeing LANGSTONE back on an easier surface in the Betfred City Of Doncaster Handicap (2.30) on Sunday.

Clive Cox's three-year-old broke his maiden over course and distance in the spring before following up on the All-Weather but didn't enjoy the fast ground in the Britannia at Royal Ascot. He hasn't been seen in public since so he arrives on Town Moor much fresher than his rivals and remains well treated off a slightly reduced mark of 92.

Zooming should also appreciate a more sympathetic surface for the first time since winning her maiden at Newmarket last autumn. She has been highly tried this year and drops into handicap company for the first time off what looks a workable mark of 94.

I can't wait to see how SUN GODDESS performs back at Group One level in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (2.50) at The Curragh on Sunday following her demolition job in a valuable sales race at York last month.

Aidan O'Brien's filly had it all to do after running into trouble on The Knavesmire, but her class prevailed in the end as she ran out a most impressive six-length winner. This is much tougher, of course, as she tackles seven furlongs for the first time on a stiffer track, but I'm confident the Phoenix Stakes winner is up to the task.

Green Empress travelled well when getting off the mark in the Group Two Debutante Stakes over course and distance last month, beating the re-opposing Alpha , Ibelieveicanfly and Dancing Destiny and looks the main danger.

Sandals ready to take a big step forward

The way Starlust hit the line behind US raider Bacio in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York tells me he can run another massive race in the BAR 1 Betting Flying Five Stakes (3.25) at The Curragh.

Ralph Beckett's five-year-old came out of retirement following a fruitless spell at stud and looks to have found the form that won him the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint two years ago.

TIME FOR SANDALS' last two runs have been solid, and I like the way she flashed home in the Nunthorpe after repeatedly finding trouble mid-race. If things fall her way, she could be the one they all have to beat with Kieran Shoemark in the saddle.

Sequoia can post a giant run in National

Juddmonte colt Monogram looked a class act when scoring over course and distance for Joseph O'Brien and can take the step up to Group One company in his stride in the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes (4.00).

One thing he does lack, however, is experience which could give GIANT SEQUOIA the advantage. Aidan O'Brien's first string won the Group Two Futurity Stakes here last time and is clearly a colt of huge potential.

On the evidence of that run, the son of the great Frankel is still open to enough improvement to make his presence felt at the very highest level so gets my vote in a mouthwatering renewal.

Brilliant Scandinavia set for fifth Group One

With a seven-race unbeaten streak to his name, I can't wait to see the brilliant SCANDINAVIA enhance his reputation in the Comer Group International Irish St Leger (4.35) on Sunday.

Aidan O'Brien's Gold Cup winner steps back to one mile and six furlongs which shouldn't be a problem on such a stiff track, and he can justify short odds in his quest for a fifth victory at the highest level.

Stable companion Jan Brueghel , who, like Scandinavia is a Doncaster St Leger winner, is the obvious danger. He looked as good as ever when winning this season's Coronation Cup and won't mind this greater test of stamina.
