One race remains in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, and Kyle Larson is now just one weekend away from potentially securing another championship.
After Sunday's race at Martinsville Speedway, the championship picture is nearly settled. Larson survived a difficult afternoon, finishing ninth in the Xfinity 500, but still heads to Homestead-Miami Speedway with a massive 67-point lead over Christopher Bell.
Denny Hamlin sits third, 70 points behind Larson, while Chase Briscoe is fourth, 84 points back. Joey Logano rounds out the top five, trailing by 103 points.
That means Larson has a significant advantage heading into the season finale, but there is still a championship to be decided.
Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin are the biggest names standing between Larson and another title. Bell has the closest points deficit, while Hamlin has the experience and history of competing for championships. Both will need an enormous performance at Homestead to make things interesting.
Larson had an opportunity to clinch the championship at Martinsville, but William Byron's victory and the results behind him kept the title from being decided early.
Homestead is a track that has delivered plenty of memorable championship battles over the years. NASCAR is returning to the facility for its season finale for the first time since 2019, bringing the championship fight back to a venue with plenty of history.
Larson also has a major advantage heading there. He won the most recent Cup Series race at Homestead in March 2025, giving him another reason to feel confident about the upcoming weekend.
But one bad day can change everything in NASCAR.
Bell and Hamlin will be looking to capitalize on any mistake, while Larson simply needs to put together a clean weekend and avoid giving his competitors an opportunity to close the gap.
After 35 races, everything comes down to one final Sunday.
