Lando Norris agreed a contract extension in August 2026 to stay at McLaren until at least the end of 2030, with options to extend beyond that season.

Norris has been with McLaren since his F1 debut in 2019 and became world champion in 2025.

Oscar Piastri signed a new multi-year contract extension ahead of the 2025 F1 season that will keep him at McLaren until the end of 2028.

Officially, Mercedes announced George Russell only for 2026 after speculation throughout last summer.

But, Sky Sports News understands Russell signed a multi-year contract so will be with Mercedes until at least the end of 2027.

Mercedes confirmed Kimi Antonelli will remain for 2026 at the same time as their October announcement regarding Russell's future.

Sky Sports News understands, like Russell, Antonelli signed a long-term deal that will keep him at Mercedes for at least a third campaign in 2027.

Max Verstappen ended speculation about his future by signing a new Red Bull contract in August 2026 that will see him stay with the team until the end of 2030.

Verstappen citied the possibility of V8 engines returning, confidence in Red Bull and racing in other motorsport categories as some of the reasons behind his new deal.

Isack Hadjar performed well in 2026 to secure his seat at Red Bull as Verstappen's team-mate for 2027, which the team announced in September.

Charles Leclerc penned his latest Ferrari deal in June 2026. As with his previous agreement, announced in January 2024, the team did not publicly comment on the length of his contract, simply saying that it secured Leclerc's future at Maranello "for the coming seasons".

That would take Leclerc up to at least the end of 2028, while there may also be options beyond that to extend further too.

Lewis Hamilton's shock announcement in February 2024 to join Ferrari in 2025 was one of the biggest F1 transfer deals in the sport's history.

Ferrari announced the move as a multi-year deal. Hamilton provided more clarity on the precise length of that term when he confirmed at the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix that he also had a contract in place for at least 2027, which would be his third year at the team. Sky Sports F1 understands Hamilton also holds a unilateral option for 2028 too.

Williams announced during the 2026 summer break a one-year contract extension for Alex Albon that will keep him with the team until the end of 2027.

The short-term nature of the deal perhaps reflects concern in Albon's camp over the team's lack of progress, but also a lack of realistic alternatives being available to him.

A day after Albon's extension was announced, Williams revealed that Sainz had agreed a multi-year extension that appears to tie the Spaniard to the team until at least the end of the 2028 season.

The "multi-year" nature of the deal came as a something of a surprise given Sainz had publicly expressed doubts over remaining with Williams given their poor start to the 2026 season.

Liam Lawson will look to establish himself as the lead driver at Racing Bulls against rookie Arvid Lindblad and should he really impress Red Bull, it should not be ruled out about the possibility of him being in contention to return to the main team.

If that's not possible, Lawson may talk to other teams to secure a spot on the 2027 grid, but he must first deliver some strong results.

British teenager Lindblad is the only rookie on the 2026 grid after impressing Red Bull in his three practice outings last year, finishing sixth in first practice in Mexico City.

The 18-year-old just needs to ensure he does not make any big mistakes and if can match, or beat, team-mate Lawson, at the very least he will have a second season at Racing Bulls.

Fernando Alonso was announced to stay at Aston Martin for 2027 in September, making him the oldest driver on the grid since the 1970s.

Questions will be asked again next season over Alonso's future, particularly if Aston Martin underperform.

Lance Stroll was announced as an Aston Martin driver for 2027 at the same time as Alonso's announcement.

It means the pair will have been team-mates together at the Silverstone-based outfit for five seasons.

Oliver Bearman's first full F1 campaign in 2025 saw a mixture of high-profile mistakes and lightning speed - with the latter aspect leading to speculation over whether he could replace Hamilton at Ferrari in the future.

Haas are unlikely to be front-runners in F1 any time soon, so at 20 years old, Bearman could be a key name in the driver market this season, should he impress on the track.

Esteban Ocon will leave Haas at the end of this year as Brazilian Rafael Camara takes his seat from 2027.

Nico Hulkenberg signed a multi-year contract when he joined Sauber, which is now Audi, in 2025 and is understood to have retained his seat for 2027.

Hulkenberg still seems to enjoy F1 and has not shown any signs of retiring despite being a father and 39 years old.

Gabriel Bortoleto perhaps did not hit the heights many expected after winning the F3 and F2 titles in his rookie seasons on his way to F1.

Bortoleto improved as 2025 went on and is still one of the best young talents on the grid, so it will be in Audi's best interests to keep the 22-year-old.

Pierre Gasly announced a new contract last September to stay at Alpine until at least the end of 2028, having joined the team in 2023.

Gasly has established himself as the lead driver at Alpine and a more competitive car this year could see him cause some surprise results when the top teams trip up.

Franco Colapinto replaced Jack Doohan just six rounds into the 2025 season and recovered from a shaky start to his Alpine career to earn a seat for this season.

The Argentine has impressed Alpine enough to retain his seat for a second full campaign in 2027.

Sergio Perez returns to F1 this year with newcomers Cadillac after a season out of the sport and will be with the American outfit until at least 2029 after signing a new deal in October.

Valtteri Bottas is also understood to have agreed a multi-year contract that will see him be with Cadillac until at least the end of 2027.

Just like Perez, he spent 2025 on the sidelines but will be hoping to add a few more highlights to his F1 career.
