Team principal: Audi F1 retain Hülkenberg and Bortoleto for 2027

Nico Hülkenberg will continue to drive for Audi in the 2027 Formula One season during which the German will turn 40.

Team principal Mattia Binotto said at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Thursday that the works team will also continue with their young Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto.

Binotto said that both had contracts for 2027, "so we knew there would be no change. We thus never announced what it would look like next year because there was no necessity for it."

Hülkenberg joined F1 in 2010 and Audi, formerly Sauber, in 2025. Bortoleto, 22, joined the same year. Audi is in its first season as a works team after a full takeover of Sauber.

Hülkenberg claimed his first career podium in his 239th race by coming third at last year's British GP.

Binotto said that the German is very consistent and rarely makes mistakes: "He always gets the most out of the car and scores points whenever possible. He has performed well so far."

Audi are eighth from 11 teams in this season's constructors' standings with 17 points, of which Bortoleto has garnered 10 and Hülkenberg seven.
