Phoenix Truck Race Gets a Last-Minute TV Change
NASCAR fans will now be able to watch Friday night's Craftsman Truck Series race on FS1 after a last-minute broadcast change opened up the network's schedule.
The Zero Carbon Bioethanol 150 Powered by POET at Phoenix Raceway had originally been moved from FS1 to FS2 and FOX Business because of a potential Game 5 in the National League Championship Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers. However, Milwaukee's four-game sweep of Los Angeles eliminated the need for a deciding game, freeing up the FS1 time slot for NASCAR.
The Truck Series race will retain its scheduled start time of 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, October 16 , giving fans the opportunity to watch the postseason action on FS1. The event will also be available through FOX One, with radio coverage provided by MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
The original broadcast adjustment came as FOX Sports prepared for the possibility of another primetime baseball game. With the NLCS potentially extending to Friday night, the network shifted the Truck Series race to FS2 and FOX Business to make room for MLB postseason coverage on FS1.
That decision created some uncertainty for NASCAR fans, particularly those who rely on FS1 to follow the Truck Series during the championship Chase.
Once the Brewers completed their sweep, however, the baseball game was no longer necessary. The newly available time slot allowed FOX Sports to move the Truck Series race back to FS1.
Friday night's race carries significant importance as the Truck Series Chase continues. Drivers will compete in the Zero Carbon Bioethanol 150 Powered by POET at Phoenix Raceway, with 150 laps scheduled around the one mile oval.
With the championship battle approaching its final stages, every position could matter. Phoenix presents a demanding challenge for teams, requiring drivers to manage tire wear, maintain track position and execute during restarts.
The race also gives championship contenders another opportunity to gain valuable ground before the remaining postseason events.
The switch back to FS1 is welcome news for NASCAR viewers who were preparing to find the race on FS2 or FOX Business.
Although the race itself has not changed, the broadcast adjustment makes it easier for fans to follow the Truck Series on a familiar sports network.
With the green flag still scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, NASCAR's championship contenders can now take center stage on FS1 as the Chase continues at Phoenix.
