‘He Is Scary Bad’ — Skip Bayless Doesn’t Believe Arch Manning Inherited Eli and Peyton’s Talent

"When I watch Arch Manning, he makes me nervous. I'm edge of seat for him. I root for him because I liked his uncles and I loved his grandfather, and he's next in line. And yet his accuracy comes and goes. When he's good, he's really good. He's a Manning. And when he's bad, which is more often than you would think it would be, he is scary bad. And for me, it started, Stephen A., when he blazed a new trail. He said, I'm not going to Tennessee where Peyton went, and I'm not going to Ole Miss where my grandfather and other uncle played."

I'm going to Texas. And I thought he had next at Texas, and he did not have next. Quinn Ewers came kept next. And for 2 years, he barely played. Arch barely played at Texas. And if you're that guy, that dude, that next Manning, you start from the start. And this is his first, you know, full year—last year, first full year of starting. And now he should be getting his legs underneath him. And for those first 3 quarters against Ohio State, it was scary bad. And then he sort of started to figure it out, got his legs underneath him. And regained his poise, which also comes and goes. And I watch him on the sideline, he gets down on himself, he hangs his head. I don't see the poise that a Manning should have consistently. And so, do I trust him at Tennessee? Texas is way better than Tennessee.

Arch is playing behind the best line in college football. He's got the most dynamic receiver duo in college football. Football in Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo, and he's, he's got a defense that features a top 5 edge rusher. They, they should beat Tennessee. They're pretty heavily favored to beat Tennessee, but I just don't trust Arch to consistently play at the level I would expect, maybe unfairly so, from a Manning."
