The San Francisco 49ers made a real upgrade on the defensive side. After an offseason of clamor over how the team would bolster its pass rush, the Niners traded for former San Francisco defensive lineman DeForest Buckner.

The 49ers are doing well enough they could reasonably have decided to roll with the team they have into the stretch run of the season. After making the big addition, some suggest they may be done making big moves.

San Francisco 49ers on SI's Niles Hall made the case for why San Francisco might be done making big trades before the deadline. Here's what Hall had to say on the potential that Buckner may be all the Niners do in the way of significant moves before the deadline on November 11.

"The 49ers went all in, trading a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts for two-time All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner.

Fans and media have speculated that the 49ers will continue this aggressiveness and attempt to trade for New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson or Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Khalil Mack; yes, these players are game changers, but the 49ers can find answers within.

The 49ers' biggest concern is at wide receiver after a fast offensive start to the season stalled in the last couple of weeks due to injuries at the position.

Last week against the Atlanta Falcons, the wide receiver struggles boiled over, and a 49ers wide receiver didn't have a single catch until the second half. The Niners were without Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel and Demarcus Robinson.

On Tuesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the three wide receivers will have a chance to return after the bye week, making it unnecessary to trade for Wilson, especially with recent developments from receiver Jordan Watkins. The 49ers will also get back first-round pick De'Zhaun Stribling, who will return at the end of the season."

San Francisco could trade for a receiver. Then again, haven't they already tried adding receivers?

The Niners went out and signed Mike Evans, Christian Kirk and Deebo Samuel in addition to drafting De'Zhaun Stribling. So, they could go and add another player, but if he gets hurt as well, you're still back to square one. Obviously, that's a narrow way of thinking, but that's not to say the Niners are above taking that thought process.

San Francisco is a contender, but they could become an even bigger threat to a Super Bowl run with each addition. We'll monitor whether or not the Niners feel that adding an elite defensive lineman in Buckner is enough to secure a playoff run.
