Yankees win Wildcard Game 1, could advance with win

BRONX, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Yankees have the opportunity to advance to the next round of the playoffs on Sept. 30, taking game one from the Red Sox on Sept. 29, 9-0.

The Yanks were led by the bat of Ben Rice , as he blasted two homeruns - one a solo shot and the other a grand slam. Cam Schlittler had a great night on the mound, going for 6.1 innings and striking out ten batters.

On Sept. 30, Max Fried will be taking the mound for New York with Sonny Gray pitching for Boston . Because the Wildcard round is a best of three series, if the Yankees win they will advance to the ALDS. The winner of the series between the Yanks and Red Sox will face another AL East rival in the Tampa Bay Rays .

First pitch is set for 8pm and you can tune in on NBC.
