Arsenal are reportedly in for one Liverpool star. The Gunners feel a deal is at least possible.

Liverpool are currently dealing with a few difficult contract situations but they're situations that they've simply got to sort. Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker sit at the top of that list.

Both are genuine Liverpool legends and both, it has to be said, remain the most important and best options for their positions in the Reds' team. You can quite easily argue that they're just outright two of the best players in this team, in fact.

But they're out of contract next summer and also well into their 30s. Liverpool aren't known to hand out contracts to older players without a fight, as we saw two years ago with Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk.

So while those ones are up in the air, there's a contract at the other end of the scale that needs immediate attention.

Handing out big contracts to ageing players is something Liverpool don't like. But what about handing out big contracts to very young players?

That's the other situation at Anfield right now as they figure out what to do with Rio Ngumoha . Ngumoha has had a difficult start to the campaign after seeing Liverpool bizarrely sign two players in his natural position.

It means he's often been asked to play from the right - a role he isn't entirely suited to. This all comes as he's set to enter the final year of his contract next summer and wants a big pay rise to sign a new deal.

Teamtalk reports that Arsenal and Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the situation. Both would love to sign Ngumoha and the teenager could, if he wanted, wait things out and join either of them for a small fee.

It would be particularly heartbreaking to see him at Arsenal, of course, and we imagine Liverpool will do all they can to sort this quickly. But that will almost certainly mean giving him more guarantees on the pitch.

That's difficult after spending nearly £200m on players in his position. Still, the Reds don't have much of a choice if they want to keep hold of one of England's brightest talents.
