Bayern Munich is preparing for its DFB-Pokal showdown, and Aaron Danks knows his side will need to bring the same intensity that has fueled its recent performances. FC Magdeburg is in good form, and Danks expects a motivated opponent ready to make the most of this occasion.
"They're a good team with a good coach, good ideas, and sound principles. They're in good form and have made a good start to the season. This is a highlight for them. We'll need to match the energy we've brought recently to show what we're capable of," said Danks (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ).
There is positive news regarding Harry Kane, who is set to return to training following his Ballon d'Or triumph and will be available for the match, but Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala are expected to miss out. Kim Min-jae and Aleksandar Pavlović are moving closer to a return, but Danks did not commit to anything.
"It's a fantastic moment for [Kane] and a great achievement. He'll be reporting back with the other players that traveled; they're due back at lunchtime today, so he'll practice this afternoon and be available for tomorrow," said Danks. "I think tomorrow's game is a bit too early for Manu and for Jamal. With all the players who had treatment yesterday, we'll see how they respond this morning. I've yet to speak to the doctors. But we know that Min-jae and Aleks are a step closer, so we'll see."
Finally, Joshua Kimmich continues to receive time with his family, with Bayern Munich expecting him back at Säbener Straße this week.
"Obviously, the line stays the same. We're giving him time to be with his family — we expect him to return to us this week. At some point this week, he'll be back at Säbener Straße," Danks remarked.
