Derby hands Maize first loss of season

MAIZE, Kan. (KSNW) -- Derby dominated Maize 35-10 in KSN's Game of the Week at Maize High School Friday night.

The Panthers scored on the game's opening drive and added a second touchdown before the Eagles dented the scoreboard.

Maize drove down the field but settled for a field goal with just under two minutes left in the first half. Davon Morrison ran the ensuing kickoff back, giving the Panthers a 21-3 halftime lead.

Derby scored twice more in the third to take a 35-3 lead before Maize found the end zone for the first time in the fourth.

Next week, the Panthers (4-0) will visit Maize South, while the Eagles (3-1) will look to bounce back against Hutchinson.
