Tyrese Haliburton makes feelings towards Brewers crystal clear after first pitch drama

The Milwaukee Brewers will have some extra motivation heading into their matchup with the Chicago Cubs, as Tyrese Haliburton is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for Milwaukee's opponent. The Pacers point guard had previously received an invitation from the Brewers to handle the honor, only for the team to withdraw it after Indiana eliminated the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs.

Haliburton now appears ready to make the Brewers regret pulling that invitation, taking the opportunity to throw out the first pitch for their division rival instead.

"I was a Brewers fan and then I was supposed to throw the first pitch last summer, and they X'ed that after the playoff series," Haliburton remarked via Fieldhouse Files Scott Agness.

"So I said, 'You know what? I'm no longer a Brewers fan.'"

Haliburton's connection to the Brewers goes back to his childhood in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he grew up supporting his hometown team. That loyalty disappeared following the Pacers' playoff victory over the Bucks. Haliburton later joked on The Pat McAfee Show that he was no longer very welcome in Wisconsin. With the Cubs giving him another chance to take the mound, he apparently saw no reason to pass it up.

"Whatever they need me to do, I'll be prepared," the Pacers star guard commented. "I've been working on my pitch. My form is not the greatest, but we've been working on it."

Haliburton proved to be the lucky charm for the Cubs, as Chicago edged the Brewers 2 – 1 at Wrigley Field to split the four game series.
