Bo Nix says Broncos won’t panic or freak out after season-opening loss

The 0-1 Denver Broncos still believe they are who they think they are after a Week 1 blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Bo Nix shared his thoughts about the place and mindset the team is in heading into a tough Week 2 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0).

"I learned a long time ago, you never play as bad as you think and you never play as good as you think," Nix said on Thursday after practice. "For us, it was the case of we didn't play as bad as what we thought. We just there at the end of the game, we didn't make third-down conversions. We felt like it was 7-7, 14-7 and 21-7 for a long time in the game. So it was reachable, and we were in it for a while. We just didn't help ourselves by any means. You watch the film, and there are a couple good things and then all of a sudden we're back because of a penalty or something. You just can't win this league like that."

Nix and Co. know there is a significant number of issues the Broncos will have to clean up in order to win in Week 2 and beyond. However, the challenge in front of them is not too daunting to be overcome.

"We're not going to press the panic button and we're not freaking out," Nix said. "We're not starting from scratch or anything. We're still in a good spot, and we just didn't play great by any means and we've got to play better."

The Broncos have the opportunity to show if the progress they've made over the week is enough to beat the 1-0 Jaguars, a team that beat Denver by 14 on their home turf in 2025.
