Will Kate Koval return to the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team?
Kate Koval is leaving LSU for personal reasons, so might she return “home” to Notre Dame?
If you haven't heard by now, Kate Koval is leaving the LSU Tigers. The former Notre Dame women's basketball player was not happy that LSU Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey signed a Russian player, and 10 days after… Koval decided to leave.
With Koval's father being in the Ukrainian military and being part of the war aginst the Russian invasion — you can understand how she feels about all of this. Despite any offical statement from Koval on the matter, I think the reasons are fairly clear because it's all so personal.
We can debate about Kim Mulkey being… well, Kim Mulkey, at any other time, but right now I'm wondering where Koval might end up. Given the timing of everything, Koval won't be able to transfer and play this season and will have to wait until spring to decide where she will be going with the remaining three years of eligibility.
Is there a chance Koval returns to Notre Dame? To be honest, I don't quite remember the reasons for her departure from Niele Ivey's program, but she's a 6'5" center with two years of experience playing big girl basketball. They don't grow that on trees — so is there a chance?
