Dylan Larkin will be held out of the Detroit Red Wings' lineup as he awaits a trade from the only NHL franchise's he's known. Beginning with Thursday's night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the forward will sit for trade-related reasons.

"Dylan's had enough of the situation," said Larkin's agent, Pat Brisson, in a statement. "We believe he's been very professional and cooperative through this process."

Interim general manager Shawn Horcoff is expected to address the situation on Thursday.

After requesting a trade in the summer, the 30-year-old Larkin reported to training camp in September ready to play as Horcoff continued working on a move. The team stripped Larkin of his captaincy and the forward has since been booed during the home opener and subsequent games at Little Caesars Arena.

During a press conference last month, Larkin did not elaborate on why he wants a trade out of Detroit, only saying he does not regret the decision.

"It wasn't easy to get to that decision. It was very hard. It wasn't a spur-of-the-moment thing," Larkin said . "But I don't take what I did lightly, and I got to that point, and I'm not quite ready to talk about it."

Hindering Horcoff and former general manager Steve Yzerman in the pursuit of a speedy trade is Larkin's contract, which features a full no-trade clause. When the request was made in June, Yzerman, who stepped down from the position in July , said Larkin's agent provided a "short list" of teams his client would be open to waiving his no-trade clause to join.

Larkin, who is in the the fifth season of an eight-year, $69.9 million contract extension, has reportedly expanded his trade list to 10 teams in order to help facilitate a move.

A Michigan native, Larkin was drafted by the Red Wings 15th overall in 2014 out of the University of Michigan. He has played in 10 of Detroit's 12 games this season, missing two due to injury and recorded two goals and six points.

Simon Edvinsson situation still unresolved

Larkin isn't the only situation where Horcoff needs to find a resolution. Defenseman Simon Edvinsson is a restricted free agent and has yet to be re-signed. The 23-year-old has not requested a move like Larkin, but has until Dec. 1 to sign a contract otherwise he will be ineligible to play for the rest of the 2026-27 season.

Edvinsson was drafted sixth overall by the Red Wings in 2021 and has 19 goals and 60 points in 175 career games.
