Joey Loperfido back with Houston Astros as Taylor Trammell goes on paternity list
Joey Loperfido is returning to the majors after being demoted to Triple-A two months ago.
The Houston Astros placed outfielder Taylor Trammell on the paternity list and recalled outfielder Joey Loperfido from Triple-A Sugar Land prior to Tuesday's series opener against the Kansas City Royals .
A player can spend up to three days on Major League Baseball's paternity list.
Trammell has played in 91 games for the Astros this season, posting a .204/.292/.353 slash line and 82 OPS-plus. He had started 10 of the team's last 12 games before Tuesday, mostly in left field.
Loperfido, the Astros' opening day left fielder, has a .216/.314/.333 slash line and 84 OPS-plus over 39 major-league games this season. He was optioned to the minors in early July and is batting .289 with a .766 OPS in 58 games for Triple-A Sugar Land.
