Connor McDavid, the Edmonton Oilers’ star player and captain, has been with his team for over a decade now as he has remained committed to his role in leading the team. While the Edmonton Oilers have had a brutal run in the last few seasons, Connor McDavid has reflected on the pressure he has had to handle as he witnessed his team losing.Connor McDavid reflects on his responsibilitues in the Edmonton Oilers and the pain of losingIn an essay for The Player’s Tribune, the Edmonton Oilers’ star captain Connor McDavid wrote, “I remember one year, I was like 11 or 12, and we won like 50 games during a season and lost one. On the car ride home, I cried my eyes out to my dad. Looking back, of course, it seems ridiculous now. But I remember the pain of losing, and how at times it felt so much worse than the joy of winning. And if I’m honest, I still struggle with that.”Connor McDavid added, “It’s something I’ve tried to work on a lot these past few seasons. When we lose a game, whether it’s game one of 82 or game 3 of a playoff series, it’s a big deal here. Like I said, I welcome that pressure. But as a player, as a leader, I can’t get too high or too low. And so how do you have fun in an environment like that? I don’t have that answer right now. Sometimes the regular season feels like a grind. I think you’ve seen it in our play this year, in my play.”The popular player continued, “I’m not always proud of that, but I want to be honest here. Because what I can also say is that our room is working really hard. We’re trying to win and have fun and be the team we know we can be. Coach is always telling me to relax, and I don’t always listen to that as much as I should.”Over the last few years, Connor McDavid has led the team with determination and integrity. Though the team’s performance has suffered in the last few years with the Edmonton Oilers’ playoff run ending early when they lost in the first round in the last season, Connor McDavid never gave up on his team.Connor McDavid keeps himself focused on the ice as he stays private with his wife, Lauren KyleAhead of the new season, Connor McDavid has focused on spending time with his wife, Lauren Kyle, as the two prefer to lead private lives. While Lauren Kyle has posted a few updates about their lives on social media, the Edmonton Oilers’ star player and captain, has completely kept himself out of the spotlight. With the new season beginning in the next few days, all eyes remain on Connor McDavid as he leads the Edmonton Oilers.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
